Project – final report
All involved partners are more than satisfied with the results and strongly believe animal breeders will recognize the importance of such monitoring as well. The configuration is now available for any animal breeder and both DunavNET and Pessl Instruments are opened for any questions on how to implement the same strategy in your breeding facilities.

CHAT SUCCESS STORY
Short description
The main idea was to extend the functionality of several advanced micro-electronics devices and integrate them into a smart cloud-based system to create audio and video based stress detection of chicken on farms facilitating the improvement of the breeding process. The project experimented with different deployment constellations, edge data processing and cloud-based machine learning and data analytics algorithms to detect stress patterns enabling early prevention of health hazards.

Our role in the project
Design, implementation, and validation of the planned experiment required a multidisciplinary team with adequate resources. Individually, partners did not have all the required skills and tools to accomplish objectives on their own. However, their skills and resources were complementary and jointly made the complete set required for the successful execution of experimentation and subsequent exploitation. DunavNET provided IoT solution design and machine learning competence and domain expertise in audio processing and poultry breeding. Pessl Instruments provided access to edge devices and competence in extending and adapting hardware functionality. Both companies provided access to market and exploitation channels. The farm provided validation environment, domain expertise and promotion/sales channels towards other farms. Consortium setup enabled excellent cross-border collaboration, leveraging proximity and ability to rapidly deploy solutions in the region and then globally.
Based on extensive experience in adapting hardware functionality Pessl Instruments provided IoT devices, namely iMETOS® ECO D3 data loggers for environmental monitoring, iMETOS CropVIEW® for remote image monitoring, the access to data through our API and the representation of data on FieldClimate platform.
