Lab-on-a-foil system

Mastering and upscaling for production of Lab-on-a-foil systems for soil fertility monitoring

Project information

Coordinator: Joanneum Research Graz
Duration: 6 months
Total Budget: 29.999,48 euros

Description and mission

The development of microfluidic chips is challenging, especially for a medium-sized enterprise. Such a microfluidic chip is at the heart of PESSL’s iMETOS MobiLab technology. The problems the company presently is facing have to do with a suitable mass manufacturing process. Currently, production is done in an economically not viable process involving various manual manufacturing steps. For this reason, PESSL intends to move to photonics-based mastering of fluidic structures and photonics-based chip replication. These manufacturing processes should be investigated in the suggested project.

Funding info

The research leading to these results has received funding from the European Union Horizon 2020 under Grant Agreement nº 779472.
