Your Field Monitoring Is About To Take Off with

METOS® BY PESSL INSTRUMENTS

From agriculture to smart cities, research, hydrology, meteorology, flood warning and more. You need it? We have it.

Disease modelling

Some diseases are difficult to control and the timing of fungicide application is crucial in keeping them under control.

At Pessl Instruments, we developed disease model algorithms based on environmental parameters collected from growers’ cloud-connected weather stations linked to the biology and the life cycle of over 80 different diseases to predict their development and progression in more than 45 different crops.

The use of disease models ensures timely disease alarms and thus a more efficient application of fungicides, usually less spray and maximum crop yield and quality.

Spray when needed, do not spray when it’s not.

Recommended equipment for disease monitoring

Which station and sensors set you’ll need depends on what crop you grow and which disease or insect you would like to predict.

nMETOS is an entry level weather station that measures air temperature, relative humidity and soil moisture.

Monitor environmental parameters, soil characteristics (moisture/temperature), as well as water level, water EC and pH.

iMETOS 3.3 is a durable and flexible data logger for all climatic and meteorological conditions or any other type of application users can think of.

Wind speed & direction, air temperature, soil moisture & temperature, precipitation, water, light, …
You name it, we have it.

Insect monitoring

Knowing the pest history as well as the conditions in the infested area assists in predicting the insect occurrence and pressure.

Electronic traps equipped with cameras enable more consistent and regular inspections and help predict the optimal timing for pesticide application while also eliminating unnecessary trips to the field.

Recommended equipment for insect monitoring

iSCOUT® is an insect trap with integrated electronics (camera system, modem, power source with solar panel) and sticky plate.

It can be hung wherever in the field needed. It is self-sufficient, as it is powered by a solar panel and a battery.

iSCOUT® Mobile combines our iSCOUT® devices with commonly used manual trap devices. The user takes a picture of the sticky boards with his phone, and the caught insects are automatically counted and identified in the app.

Irrigation management

Pessl Instruments irrigation management systems can be used in all irrigated crops.

How to define the right amount of water for the soil? The best answer to the dilemma is the iMETOS 3.3 weather station.

iMETOS 3.3 comes with a wide range of first-class soil moisture sensors that can be inserted into various soil depths. The sensors will supply the grower with the daily water consumption of the crop within the different soil layers as well as with the ET (evapotranspiration) data. This data through our cloud software solution (FieldClimate) is then used to determine the optimum time for irrigation. Our DSS for irrigation will help prevent both damages due to drought stress and excessive watering.

iMETOS 3.3 is a high-end weather station that has the widest range of flexibility when it comes to adding various sensors. But we have other less complex solutions for smaller fields and farmers who are just starting out with smart ag applications. You can find all our hardware solutions here

Recommended equipment for irrigation management

+38 years of experience have shown that growers can cut down on up to 50 % of irrigation running time
and save energy, water, service costs, fertilizer and have higher yields with less input.

Spray quality assessment

Lower the risk of a mistake and assure better quality at lower cost and full traceability.

  • Check the weather conditions before and during the treatment (Air temperature and humidity, Delta T, rain, Wind speed)
  • Verify the correct pulverization of the drops according to the temperature and wind conditions (larger drops in the presence of high temperatures and breezes)
  • Coverage and delivery of the product to the target
  • Timing on application
  • Avoid treatment when:
    • convective air movements (e.g. on hot spring-summer afternoons) occur
    • thermal inversion conditions (more frequent on clear and calm nights) occur
